Life List: Donate Blood

I've donated blood twice before today, once in high school and once freshman year of college. The first time was fine and great; the second time was not so fine and great and I almost threw up. I did try once more, but they denied me because I had left the country. And then I just never got around to it. For...4 years. I've been meaning to try again.

This week I got an email for a blood drive at school, and if you donate twice then you can win tickets to the superbowl. OF COURSE I'll donate blood then! (Little did I know I would also get $10 to Ikea, can I donate again right now please?)

So after eating lots of food and drinking lots of water all day, I was fine. New life goal: become a regular blood donor (i.e. more than once every four years).

Slice of life: day 2.

I'm not very good at things like a picture a day, so I feel pretty good about two days in a row. Not that this picture at all sums up anything about my day.

Except that I had to park at the very top of an eight floor parking garage, and then I took the stairs both down and up. Down was way way easier.

And then when I was going back to my car, I noticed how nice the view was. My first thought was "man there are a lot of trees". My second was "can I go on that roller coaster now please?".

Slice of life: day 1.

I love sports. Love love love sports. Since my favorite teams include the Buccaneers and the Seminoles, the Rays are the most fun to cheer for right now. Hello postseason!

Today was the regular season home closer for the Rays, and since attendance at the games has been low (or awful enough for the players to complain), the club gave away 20,000 free tickets. Yes, those zeros are right.

And of course I skipped class and talked my wonderful (but not sports loving) boyfriend into going. And he liked it. My favorite part was that everyone was so pumped from the beginning. There wasn't anyone performing the national anthem, just an instrumental version playing, but by the last 1/3 of the song the entire Tropicana Dome was loudly singing. It was fantastic. When does that ever happen?!

So did they win? No. Was it worth it? Heck yes.
